Be a King
Be a King: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s Dream and You | Carole Boston Weatherford
3 posts | 4 read
You can be a King. Stamp out hatred. Put your foot down and walk tall. You can be a King. Beat the drum for justice. March to your own conscience. Featuring a dual narrative of the key moments of Dr. King's life alongside a modern class as the students learn about him, Carole Weatherford's poetic text encapsulates the moments that readers today can reenact in their own lives. See a class of young students as they begin a school project inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and learn to follow his example, as he dealt with adversity and never lost hope that a future of equality and justice would soon be a reality. As times change, Dr. King's example remains, encouraging a new generation of children to take charge and change the world . . . to be a King.

#JanuaryJazz Day 18: #MLKDay While not a biography per se, visual allusions to this can be seen on each page. It is more a gentle encouragement to young readers on how they can also become a king, fashioned after Dr. King‘s dream and life‘s mission. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-n1j

This is a B about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. it talks about Dr. Kings life and the obstacles he had to go through! It also informs the readers about his dream and what he accomplished in life. This book would be great for a RA durning black history month! https://cbweatherford.com/2020/01/08/10-activities-based-on-the-picture-book-be-...

KarliCrean The UDL principal 8.3 foster collaboration and community and EL 42 have students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts and information is important for the activities in the website above because it will give the students a visual of Dr. Kings life and will introduce to the students about why it‘s so important to treat everyone equal! #UCFLAE3414SP20 5y

This B book is great for RA. I enjoyed reading this book because it talks about never giving up and following your dreams. This book was written by Carole Boston Weatherford and illustrated by James E. Ransome. I would use this book when introducing Martin Luther King and what he did to change history to the students.

This video is great to use in the class because it is being read aloud and it‘s fun for students to watch because it has puppets in the beginning of the video!

ally11301 The UDL 1.2: offer alternatives for auditory information applies towards the youtube video of the RA. 6y
ally11301 The ESOL strategies that would be beneficial towards this book would be #28. This is because Martin Luther King was a very powerful significant men in our country and well known across the world. 6y
