Pickpick

Sammy, Dog Detective is a NF book that explains the life of a dog on the force. This book is written by Colleen Stanley Bare. I think this book would work well as a IR book or a RA. #LAE3414sp19

LaGasseSam1996 https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/learning-read-... This lesson plan from scholastic introduces nonfiction text to students. It allows students to see the differences between fiction and nonfiction. Which I think is important when first introducing a nonfiction book. (edited) 6y
LaGasseSam1996 ESOL strategy 5 is important when teaching nonfiction. There are new terms being introduced and they need to know the vocabulary to fully understand nonfiction text. 6y
LaGasseSam1996 UDL 2.1 is also used in this lesson plan. We need to help students make since of the new vocabulary. Fiction and nonfiction are very easy to confuse. If we show what makes fiction fake and what makes nonfiction not fake it may help them understand better. 6y
