I loved this book!

The author weaves past experiences with his father, with his experiences living in Morocco with his family, and the importance of storytelling.

Tahir begins a journey to understand Morocco and it‘s culture through stories, whilst also trying to find the story in his heart. Even now that books and tv are more prevalent, we see just how important storytelling is, and the knowledge that stories can offer.

After several years of intending to read this book I finally picked it up and cracked it open. I‘m glad I did. It‘s enchanting the way Tahir Shah weaves memories of his fathers stories with his new life in Morocco while he explores the culture and tries to find the heart of the country by finding its storytellers and learning their tales.

Another charmer from Shah chronicling his journeys through Morocco's physical and cultural landscapes. In this one, he's looking for his heart's own story. (Interesting to know he's the son of Idries Shah, who charmed me years ago with the tales of Nasruddin the Mullah.)
