Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte, North Carolina: A Brief History | Mary Kratt
3 posts
Founded in 1768 at the crossing of two Indian trails, Charlotte has a rich heritage to match its age. In this extensively researched volume, accomplished author and historian Mary Kratt chronicles the history of Charlotte from the earliest Catawba inhabitants to the development of finance, culture and transportation, still centered on those ancient crossroads. Hear the personal voices of discovery, hardship, wars, privation, segregation and achievement from village to boomtown. Whether detailing the cotton fields and textile mills of yesterday or the banking center of tomorrow, Kratt's account is a fascinating history of the people who have made Charlotte a queen among southern cities.

Looking for a book with a very vague description.... series about a witch knight vampire and shapeshifter. The vampire and shapeshifter are in love. Shapeshifter can turn into a dolphin. They meet up to train and save the world. I thought it was the circle trilogy by Nora roberts but that‘s not it. Can anyone help?

Bookzombie Is it a romance? I‘m pretty sure I would remember reading a book where someone can turn into a dolphin. 4y

Well, I certainly gave 110% today! Did a spin class and greenway walk today! I was with a friend for the walk, and did not get to listen to my #audiobook. I think I‘ve earned my rest day tomorrow!

Bottom left: we saw two pairs of ducks at our neighborhood park on the walk to school this morning. Always a sign that spring is coming soon! 🦆 🦆

Center left and top right: pics from Clark‘s Creek Greenway, near UNC-Charlotte. #LitsyWalkers

Soubhiville So pretty! Yes I‘d say you did earn that rest day! 6y
wanderinglynn 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻What a great day! 110% indeed. And it looks like a lovely walk! 6y
wildwoodreads I have always wanted to visit Charlotte. I‘m trying to convince my husband but after being stationed at a Marine Corps base in North Carolina for four years he‘s not convinced that he wants to visit so soon. 😂 6y

alisiakae @Soubhiville @wanderinglynn Thank you! And we went for pho and bubble tea afterwards, which was perfect! And now I‘m lying on the chaise lounge outside reading. The temps start dropping again tomorrow. 6y
alisiakae @megzlynn Was he at Lejeune? I can understand! Charlotte is a great place to live, but I really love Asheville! 6y
wildwoodreads @4thhouseontheleft He was! And I adore Asheville. I‘ve taken so many trips there. I‘m so ready to go back. 6y

@cathysaid Here‘s the coaster I bought at #PaperSkyscraper today. I like that it can double as a mini-trivet for hot stuff. 😊

dsfisher I don‘t think the photo really shows how lovely they really are. 6y
DGRachel @dsfisher Yeah, the color is off in the photo, but I‘m pretty sure that the 300 South Tyron building is in this skyline, and you know I had to have the building I built! 6y
cathysaid Such cool artwork! And in this episode of “it‘s a small world”... the author of the book you tagged was a client at the firm I worked for in Charlotte. 6y
