34 pages in, I determined that this isn't a book I can read without underlining. Fortunately it was available affordable used, so it's been ordered and this copy will go back to the library. I'll continue reading the history of libraries next, and hopefully be able to pick up Curye on Inglysch after that.
I have zero recollection of where I heard about this book or when I ordered it at the library, but it showed up today so I'll read it. Sounds super interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it.
pickImagined Communities is the most accessible text on nationalism that I‘ve read recently. Anderson‘s examination of the origins of the concept of the nation, and the spread of nationalism is logically argued and thoroughly supported. It is interesting to read a perspective which traces this structure of identity not to Europe, but to South America. An engaging and thoughtful read.
Y‘all probably don‘t care but I‘m reading this book for one class I teach and just found a segment that is super relevant to another class I teach and now I feel like I‘m winning at work reading.
