I'm currently reading this historical fiction ARC set during WWII and while it's still early days, so far it's without doubt an interesting read. A Woman Of War by Mandy Robotham is due to be published next month.

SassyBookworm Just snagged this off NetGalley after I saw your post! Thank you! 🤓 6y

Well, I finished it... Now what do I do?

This was a superb read. Up there in my top 2 books I've ever read. I enjoyed it so much. It had everything going for it. Even though I read this as an ARC, I'd totally buy this. I'll definitely be watching out for this author and I hope she writes many, many more books!

bg_reads @TheBookKeepers yes! I took the picture too early, just a second later it changed to her with her face all wonky and her hair getting pulled every which way. Oh well. Lol! 6y

I love her grit. I love that she 'voices' the inner thoughts. In a PC world, it's very refreshing.

Though this book is taking me a while to get through (I just haven't had the time to read lately) it is truly a wonderful read. Having just had my second child via cesarean 6 months ago, it was truly amazing and beautiful to read about natural childbirth. It wasn't crude or graphic, but lovingly detailed in a way only a midwife is able to articulate. What a beautiful picture she painted with her words.
I'm sorry if others find this offensive.

With Thanksgiving coming up I'm forced to realize how thankful I am to be able to stay home with my children and have this rare chance to raise my own kids and not rely anyone else. It is by far the hardest job I've ever had and I'm doing very poorly at it, but I'm slowly realizing that I'm not "suffering" but am truly blessed with this opportunity. This is so hard. Beyond what I imagined. But I'm thankful. Truly thankful. ?????

Jee_HookedOnBookz Kudos to you mommy and I totally get it when you say raising your kids on your own and not having to rely on someone else, and it isn't ez. Everyday is different and a challenge! But we march on! ❤️💪 6y
bg_reads @Jee_HookedOnBookz I must say that I do have the support of my husband but he's not home a lot of the time, so I feel like I'm on my own. Thanks for the kind words. It was a rough day today. 💗 6y
bg_reads @Jee_HookedOnBookz I guess when I said I didn't rely on others I meant a babysitter or someone else who is teaching my kids morals, etc while I work. 🙂 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @cbwaug you're a superwoman to me! 💪👍🏼 6y

"...I sat out late on my porch, reading at first and then just watching as the light died. The house itself became more illuminated, and sounds of male laughter drifted out into the mountain air. Down there, across the world, thousands – millions – of people were sobbing, screaming and dying, and all I could hear was amusement. I went to bed and rammed the pillow against my ears, desperate to shut out all the wrong in this mad arena called life."

bg_reads I am LOVING this book so far. A woman who goes from living in a concentration camp, helping babies come into the world and then killed by SS, to living in Hitler's house and helping his lover (Braun) bring a healthy baby into the world. What an amazing depiction by this author. Quickly becoming my favorite read this year. 6y

I LOVE this book so far. It seems so RAW. Unfiltered. The true inner workings of a woman facing such a brutal, bigoted group of people.
I'm a big historical fiction fan!

I really need to get back to it. I have 4 NetGalley books on here that need to be read and reviewed. I'm really enjoying A Woman Of War so far. I'm 15% in and it's very captivating. I wish it would snow so I could snuggle up and be truly comfortable. At least there's a little bit of cloud cover outside. I guess that works... ⛅

I'm feeling like a real parent failure today so I'm doing what I need to do to get through this day. Avoid it. My daughter picked a movie and I'm just going to read. This too shall pass.
#NetGalley #awomanatwar it doesn't help that the first chapter was about a woman who only spent 3 hrs with her son before the SS did away with him. Heck of a first chapter.
