This book wrecked me! I didn‘t know what to expect from this coming of age novel, but it was so much more than I thought it would be. Life, death, love, family, grief, joy, hope... I went through all the emotions in this book. His grandfather (who I would gladly sit and listen to for hours), his horrible sister, his unexpected friends, and his undying love for the girl next door, all came together to make me feel truly connected to young Mickey.

I‘m starting this audiobook today. Happy reading, everyone!

I was lucky enough to work with Sean Patrick Flanery as a client at my old job, so I got to read this book well before it was released. I'd never been so attached to a client's book, and lemme tell you - it's a tear jerker.

I didn't expect a whole lot from this book, but was intrigued that it was written by the actor, Sean Patrick Flanery. I loved it. A coming of age story of young Mickey while he grows up in 1970s Houston, it had everything. Young love, a retired sheriff grandfather that gives the best advice ever, friendship, hardship.....LIFE. I hope that Mr. Flanery writes more. I would not hesitate to pick up his writing again.
