Tensions come to a head in the eighth epic volume of the BONE series. The Bone cousins, Gran'ma Ben, and Thorn finally reach the city of Atheia, where they reunite with old friends and plan to thwart The Lord of the Locusts. The Pawan army has joined forces with Briar and the rat creatures, and danger increases as Thorn's visions get stronger. Today‘s goal: finish my BONE reread! I don‘t love the series the way I did fifteen years ago, it I do like it an awful lot.

merelybookish I read this with my oldest 10ish years ago and am no now re-reading it with my youngest. That quiche-loving rat creature still makes me laugh. 🙂 3y

This was pretty good - I liked the continued story of the Bone cousins (always getting into mischief), new happenings with the Queen & Thorn (as she‘s still being trained of sorts), & the Bee chapter was pretty amusing 🐝 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The stakes are getting really high. This book was very tense. That being said I am SO SICK of watching Phoney Bone try to get rich quick. It is book 8 of 9. We should have left that behind by now. It takes time away from what was otherwise a really good read. I almost listed this one as so-so purely because of him, but I think the good stuff? It's still really good and worth checking out.
