pickI like that it keeps you guessing and that there are a few surprises! At first I was put off by these different narrators but it actually what did it for me in the end. Can you please recommend another Lucy Clarke that you liked?
pickDespite this novel indulging in some of the cliches of the psyche thriller genre (structure, cover design), it is actually set apart from its peers by the quality of the writing. Lucy Clarke is very good indeed. Her dialogue is on point - rarely come across such natural spoken exchanges. Also she builds tension & suspense like a master - at one point every character was under my suspicion! Cont. in comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

pick5/5 loved this thriller was gripping and creepy. Loved the main character ‘Elle‘ and the unravelling of her life and the story 📚
Can't tell you how much I want to be curled up at home reading this book! It's really got me gripped! Instead I'm driving eldest daughter to Newcastle (North of England) for a Uni open day. We live in the North but Newcastle is northerer 😉 Going to take the book along in the hope of a 10 min reprieve. This here's The Angel of the North a towering roadside piece by British sculpter Anthony Gormley. Taken by daughter on our initial uni seeking trip
75 pages in and enjoying. Already I suspect the sister, the ex, the bro in law, the neighbour, the publisher and librarian....I'm starting to suspect myself! And my dog is looking a bit shifty 👀
pickLucy Clarke has written a very absorbing tale.....there are so many possible suspects, just who is terrifying Elle and why.....it starts quite slow with little background chapters which I felt didn‘t seem relevant, but my was I wrong....the tension builds and builds until a stunning twister of a reveal.....brilliant
