It's my first post so I figured my book, Train Thoughts, would be a good one :) It is a suspenseful horror thriller about a man who goes insane hunting the killer of his wife.

Heads up for anyone who reads this awesome book. In many of the dream sequences throughout, a number of creepy crawlies are utilized. Please note, these pests play an important role in the plot. To unlock the clues prior to the book's conclusion, Google each creature to see what they represent in dream interpretations.

Pickpick

Although I had my suspicions from page one, Sigler provides the reader with many scenarios & possibilities that will cause one to constantly doubt themselves.

At first, I considered the dreams produced by the narrator was nothing more than his brain accepting the deaths that occurred. Although I found the dreams interesting, I didn't consider how crucial they were until the end of the book.

I highly recommend this psychological horror piece.

Oh, crap! I suspected, but I didn't really see that coming. The narrator has reacted too haistly. Major screw up! He's in the hot seat now! 70% through with my read and can't put it down.

As the narrator's friends are dying off, one by one, the narrator has become a complete alcaholic consumed by paranoia and depression. Still, despite his drunken nature, he is able to start playing private eye where he is spying on Shawn. Although, there is still no solid proof that Shawn is the killer, Sigler does a superb job of building suspense and mystery.

The story progresses as the narrator's nightmares become more intense. He begins to fear that Neil, Frank, and Sheila are next on Shawn's kill list. However, I'm beginning to question if Shawn is nothing more than a red herring. I say this because at the moment, we haven't seen Shawn do anything to prove he's guilty. I'm almost wondering if Sigler is playing the same card that L. Ron Hubbard played with "Fear."

Although Sheila has returned from being sick, Rob and Gina are still no where to be found.

The plot thickens as we realize the train harbors a stranger who stays entirely to himself. The narrator has decided to name this suspicious character, Shawn. Although Shawn might be a killer, I almost wonder if the narrator's obsessed co-worker is stalking him in a fatal attraction scenario.

As the narrator continues life to the best of his ability, we learn he is living vicariously through a couple on his train commute, Gina and Rob.

While becoming adjusted to his typical routine of home life breaking apart, he is beginning to suffer nightmares. Yet, his real worry doesn't start until he boards the train for his daily commute and finds Shiela is not present.

Days later, he discovers Gina and Rob are also missing.

Among the narrator's interest, Sheila seems to suffer from internal demons as she is an emotional eater. Neil is the type of person who invents lies to make himself seem more interesting. Frank hides behind a smile that masks emotional scars.

I'm intrigued to see where the ride goes.

By introducing Sheila, Neil, & Frank, it seems like there are different levels of loneliness & depression displayed here. While suggesting we are all creatures of habit, the greatest level of melancholy is found in the narrator, who's normal habits of life were interrupted.

Following suit is the insight we are provided by the narrator's people watching. All of which meshes together to create a literature version of "Eleanor Rigby." •Continued•

Chapters 2 and 3 sums up what the narrator plans to do now that he is recovering from his wife's murder. However, his plans fall through, and he remains stuck in the same despair. On his 2 hour commute to work, where he would normally read, he has now settled into people watching. By observation and eavesdropping, he considers 3 people who he has never properly met to be his best friends (Sheila, Neil, and Frank). •Continued•

In the first chapter, a devastating portrait is painted of a man who is suffering the death of his wife. By few pages, the desolation, desperation, grief, and anger detailed in the first person perspective has already provided a depressing gut punch.
