This weeks audio. Funny, heroic, moral and romantic. The first of its kind. The forerunner of the Western genre that romanticizes the loner cowboy. Loved it. My 16 year old who thinks he can only stand to read dystopian or horror liked it too. Story of a Wyoming cowboy as he fights the bad guys and wins the heart of his lady 🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴
Enjoying the book just as much as I enjoyed the show!! I can tell this will be in my top 10 books as well! ❤
How I'm spending my night until my meds knock me out! ❤
So, I did it. I bought The Virginian, but I also bought The Plague Dogs and a manga!
Highly considering picking up "The Virginian" before anyone else does. This is one of my favorite western shows, and I wanna read the book so bad!
This book is jammed full of little quips to live by. Very modern advice!
From 116 years ago, the timeless experience of losing your bags while traveling. #serialreader

This novel, published in 1902, is considered the first “western”.

Good thing Owen Wister had an unbearably tedious job in banking back in 1885. It drove him to retreat to a ranch in Wyoming each year where he penciled precise details in his diaries about the West and its people. From these notes he created the first true fictional #western ever written. Plus he coined the phrase:When you call me that, SMILE.😊He even looks like the Virginian! Loved the descriptive writing and western drawl dialogue.

This seemed a more romantic version of Lonesome Dove. Not as much action but some of the same feelings. The Virginian is a man of few words, high principles, and deep thoughts. #LitsyClassics #V #17 #2018christyread
Is anybody else watching the Virginia/UMBC game? What is happening??? #bracketbuster #marchmadness 🏀🏀 #dogsoflitsy #henryboy
Not going to lie, very surprised by how much my first assigned reading for this semester is making me laugh 🐴 #myfirstwestern #historicalfiction #lifeofanenglishmajor
Would anyone in the western part of Virginia like to do a meet-up sometime this summer? I live in Abingdon but could do a day trip as far as Roanoke. Feel free to tag any Virginian littens who might be interested.
