Newly appointed fairy godmother Bea has one week to find a Happy Ending - that is, if she isn't arrested for treason first... Bea is a cabbage fairy, because there are all kinds of fairies and some of them have to be cabbage fairies, but she dreams of being so much more. She wants to be a Fiction Management Executive, but no one at the General Administration will take her seriously - until now. Bea is finally given a simple Happy Ever After story, charged with ensuring a young peasant girl marries a handsome king. But there's something rotten behind the simplicity of the GenAm's plots, and suddenly Bea is faced with a choice, and it seems whichever option she picks will be wrong: Will she commit treason in order to help a beautiful girl marry a poor, plain looking man, or follow the plot and save herself and her friends from the sinister Redaction Department?
