Leaf Supply: A Guide to Keeping Happy House Plants
Leaf Supply: A Guide to Keeping Happy House Plants | Lauren Camilleri, Sophia Kaplan
8 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
A beautiful and practical book on choosing and caring for over 100 easy-to-find houseplants, as well as inspiring plant styling advice and much more.Fresh flowers are great--everyone loves receiving them. But inevitably they're already on the way out the door (and into the trash) by the time they arrive. Plants--living, breathing, life-sustaining plants--are where it's at! Authors Lauren Camilleri and Sophia Kaplan really want you to love indoor gardening and growing as much as they do. Leaf Supply profiles and provides comprehensive (but easy to follow) care instructions for 100 houseplants--including tropical plants, palms, hanging plants, succulents, cacti, and more unusual varieties such as air plants and carnivorous plants--ensuring you learn and grow as your plant grows. But much more than a plant guide, Leaf Supply also gives interior styling advice on choosing the right pots for your plants--both aesthetically and practically--as well as best utilizing your space, making the most of your indoor greenery, plus advice on pet-friendly (as well as harmful) plants for your home. This is a comprehensive guide for any budding green thumb interested in greening their apartment or inside their home.

Sunday is Watering Day! And I almost forgot to water my favourite favourite plant (don‘t tell the others) - in my defence I did have to navigate around a clothes horse and sheet that was drying across two dining chairs to see/get to it - BUT STILL

rockpools Sunday IS watering day. Thanks for the reminder! 3y
Karisa That container is so cute and quirky 😍 3y
BookishMarginalia How pretty! 3y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Karisa, I found it in a charity shop - but the lid had a crack in it - so I decided to make it into a pot for a plant. 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @BookishMarginalia, it‘s the pot that makes it my (secret) favourite 😍 3y
BookishMarginalia It‘s adorable! 3y

Pickpick

A fun and useful read for any burgeoning plant parents out there. Lots of useful info on caring for and styling plants in your home. Plus lots of gorgeous pictures to inspire you. Idk if it would be as useful for more knowledgeable plant peeps, but as someone who's become obsessed with houseplants over the last few months, this was a really useful jumping off point. Plus it makes a stunning coffee table book with its sprayed green edges.

Texreader How lovely!! 🌱❤️ 4y

I've been having a but of trouble reading this week, but this one has felt easier. I'm enjoying learning more about my growing plant collection without worrying about research / reading for work.

Pickpick

A pick with reservations, this book definitely gets all the points for being aesthetically pleasing, with sprayed edges, matte pages, and loads of full-page photos. There is a lot of info about the basics of raising houseplants and keeping them happy, and then the rest of the book looks very briefly had individual types of houseplants and also "interviews" random plant people. I could have done without the interviews, as they felt more like ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) filler and didn't have a lot of useful information - it was more “plants make me happy so I decided to put them everywhere!“ In the end, this book is more looks than substance - while it has some decent basics, it also has a lot of fluff. A lovely book to look through, but I suggest checking it out of the library before purchasing (like I did!) to make sure it's the fit for you. 4y
rockpools It makes a good photo though! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @rockpools - Thank you! The book itself is soooo pretty, and I'm such a sucker for sprayed edges anyway. 4y
VeganCleopatra I always find that books on plants aren't terribly helpful...the internet is much more informative and you can get niche. But the books are so often so pretty. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @VeganCleopatra - yes, the internet is definitely so useful for finding specifics! But I'm always on the lookout for good, all-purpose books to add to my physical reference library. There are loads of fantastic books about all sorts of gardening, but houseplants seem to be neglected territory. 4y

I love this book. It‘s really helped me keep my first batch of houseplants alive! For years everything has died super quick.... these are 2 months in and thriving. Finger crossed!

Of course if they die - I could always use the shelf for books! 🤣

britt_brooke Beautiful photo! 😍 6y

wanderinglynn Great photo! 👍🏻 And I need to read that book too because I even killed my air plants! 😂 6y
Mitch Thanks @britt_brooke @MoniqueReads305 @LazyDays it‘s been fun mixing the sizes, shapes and pots! 6y
Mitch Oh no @wanderinglynn I kill most stuff too! We have one plant in the lounge that I totally neglect and do everything the plant label says not too and we‘ve had it 15 years! The rest all make a hasty exit. Moral of the story - leave plants without food, in a too small pot, no natural light and hardly any water and they will survive! 🤣🤣 6y
kspenmoll Beautiful photo! I could use that book! 6y
emilyhaldi I NEED this book... I kill everything 🙄 6y
Reviewsbylola Omg your plants are awesome! I‘m like @emilyhaldi , maybe it‘s genetic. 😂 6y
Laura317 You‘re plants are gorgeous, but that print! 😍 6y
Mitch We‘ve recently had a big clear out and rediscovered it in a tube under the bed! We bought it a few years a go in this cute little store in Brooklyn. It‘s getting a second airing! @Laura317 (edited) 6y
