Evening seminary reading 💕

My seminary transitioned to online classes on Tuesday, and most of the events and plans I had for the next few weeks have been canceled. It's a stressful time here in Berkeley/the Bay Area, and I'm thankful for technology and for online classes. Thinking of y'all and praying for the world right now. Read lots and take care of y'all's selves. ❤️ 🙏

Emilymdxn Thinking of you! Stressful time everywhere right now - central London isn‘t fun tho the official government advice right now is just to wash our hands and not cancel anything. Scary time 😞 sending lots of love 5y
alisiakae We just canceled our trip to San Fran 😢 Not very responsible for us to travel over spring break and possibly risk exposing hubby‘s patients and other healthcare workers upon return. Plus, I think today our school district will be moving up spring break anyway. 5y
Suet624 My son lives in Oakland and works in Berkeley. I‘m so concerned about you all. So far Vermont only has 2 cases but that will surely change. 5y

“But what if liberalism itself harbours male dominance, what if male superordination is inscribed in liberalism‘s core values of liberty—rooted in autonomy and centred on self-interest—and equality—defines as sameness and confined to the public sphere?“

witofthestaircase “In this critique, masculinist social norms are part of the very architecture of liberalism; they structure its divisions and population of the social space and govern its production and regulation of subjects. These are the norms that produce and privilege masculine public beings.” 7y
WomanistBibliophile Very true. When people wonder how it is that male dominance and white dominance still persist “in 2018” I think this is a large part of it— 7y
