Letter 44 Vol. 1: Escape Velocity
Letter 44 Vol. 1: Escape Velocity | Charles Soule
5 posts | 9 read | 9 to read
On Inauguration Day, newly elected President Stephen Blades hoped to tackle the most critical issues facing the nation: war, the economy, and a failing health care system. But in a letter penned by the outgoing President, Blades learns the truth that redefines "critical": seven years ago, NASA discovered alien presence in the asteroid belt, and kept it a secret from the world. A stealth mission crewed by nine astronauts was sent to make contact, and they're getting close-assuming they survive the long journey to reach their destination. Today, President-elect Blades has become the most powerful man on the planet. This planet.

Mehso-so

This premise was very interesting-brand new president finds a letter saying “we found aliens hanging out in the asteroid belt and sent a ship to go check it out. They are almost there. Good luck!” I liked the overall story, but the way the female characters are handled in this graphic novel is downright atrocious. This series is not available at my library so will not be continuing it.

TerriGreen Oh that premise sounds interesting, bummer it did not pan out! 5y

Lizpixie @Cinfhen it‘s so frustrating! And I can‘t even complain because they only respond to the Facebook group which my request to join is still pending on. #librarythingfail #litsyfail #cmonguysdobetterthanthis 6y

This comic has been on my tbr for a while so when #netgalley had it available as part of a re-release I grabbed the chance to read it.

The plot revolves around the inauguration & new term of Pres. Blake (44th US pres.) and a group of astronauts who‘ve been sent to see what they can find about an alien structure. It pulls heavily from 2008 US politics but puts a spin on it. I really enjoyed this one & am excited to see where it leads.

#2017Book67
The day President Blades takes office he's handed a letter from the previous president informing him of a top secret space mission, of which he's now in charge. But is the mission even real? The artwork in this graphic novel is fantastic, and the story moves quickly. It gets incredibly science-heavy in the middle, but even if you have no interest in science or space, the story is still easy and fun to follow.

HippieChickHomeschool This looks great. I couldn't find it at my library- but it's free on Kindle with Amazon Prime! 8y
