I love my fluffy, puffy curls. I'm so happy they are mine. When I believe in myself, They shimmer and they shine.

Loved this MF that promotes confidence and diversity through a princess with magical curls who can do anything she sets her mind to! In a diverse classroom, PR could be a great tool to build community and celebrate differences. Pairing students from different backgrounds and having them share unique qualities about the other that makes them special could be a great way to help build the reading community and encourage one another.

DMoux https://kids.scholastic.com/kids/books/princess-truly/ This link provides more insight on the author and how Princess Truly was inspired by her daughters. UDL 9.1 and EL strategy 3 could both be used through promoting positive beliefs about oneself/others and encouraging self-talk such as positive thinking which can optimize motivation. #ucflae3414su19 5y
MeganKlein @DMoux, the resource you provided was awesome! I loved learning more about the authors and why they were inspired to write the Princess Truly books. This book seems like a great one to have in a classroom library because it promotes diversity and self-confidence. Besides PR, I would also consider doing a DR of this book. I think children would be very engaged if this book was acted out. (edited) 5y
DrSpalding The book you won in class! Great resource and partner reading works however Megan‘s idea of a dramatic reenactment could be fun as well. (edited) 5y

My friend was looking for kids' books featuring positive images of African American children for her one year old daughter's birthday. She also just cut her processed hair to have all-natural hair as an example for her daughter. This book is perfect for this! What great illustrations to boot. ❤️🍰

Lreads This is wonderful! No one should be ashamed of what they are born with. 🙂 7y
