pickNot sure when I read blacklands, but the 3rd in this trilogy brings many threads in the 1st 2 bks abt an exmoor village together. When children are snatched from vehicles with a post it saying you don't love him left behind, the investigation bring Jonas Holly (bk 2 police officer whose wife is murdered) and Stephen (bk 1 boy who interacts with an imprisoned killer) into close tense connection. A really taut narrative, great characters, + plot.

The kidnapper only leaves a brief note of accusations behind--no explanations, no ransom demands. Officer Jonas Holly is on the case, but he's reeling from a personal tragedy that may keep him unable to solve it. Reviewed as brutal, tense, & twisty. pickI really like Bauer's books. She writes good stories and describes the environment really well. I also like her plots and her endings, but I do feel that the characters needs to be more evolved if the book is this long. (About 400 pages.) Some pieces of the book are a bit uneventful. If I cared more for the characters I don't think I would feel that way, because I usually like my books even bigger ;)
I've bought a house!!! I moved in sunday, so five days in and I love it!! Now my mornings look like this :)
