This was my view one year ago today. Between the pool, the mojitos, and all the reading I got done (including the excellent book I have tagged in this post), it was probably my favourite vacation ever.
Watching The Night Of and I think "Amara Karan would be great as Anji Kapoor" and wouldn't you know it, she was already on Doctor Who (she played Rita in The God Complex).
I had so much fun with this book! The writing is smart and funny, and having a new companion in Anji lets the reader see the Eighth Doctor with fresh eyes. This book starts a new story arc and there's little connection to the forty-odd preceding books (outside of a subplot involving the Doctor's other companion, Fitz), so it isn't bogged down with continuity. A great Who novel, I'll definitely be reading more books in the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Where‘s Fitz? Could you go and fetch him, please? It took me over a hundred years to find him – I‘d rather he wasn‘t killed now I‘m just getting to know him again."
Really liking the companions in this book, especially Fitz. By EarthWorld, he's already been adventuring with the Doctor for a while so he clearly knows what to expect with giant robots.
Happy Dr Whosday!
I decided to start a new Who book on vacation. I usually lean towards the New Adventures featuring the Seventh Doctor (or Past Doctor books starring one of the first six), but this time I decided to read my very first Eighth Doctor novel. Since there are so many to choose from, I went with BBC's pick to reissue for the 50th anniversary, EarthWorld. Updates to follow!
