Monster Truck Racing by the one and only Lee-Anne T. Spalding is a great NF book for kids wanting to learn more about monster trucks! This book talks about everything from what makes a monster truck, the maintenance of monster trucks, the rules of monster truck racing, different trucks, events, and so much more! Working with kids, I know so many boys who love monster trucks. #ucflae3414sp21

tclivio This is the perfect book for them to practice vocabulary while learning more about monster trucks! This book does include a lot of vocabulary that students can learn and practice. This would help with enforcing UDL 2.1 (clarify vocabulary and symbols) as well as EL 5 (teach technical vocabulary supporting key concepts). The following website is a great resource to teach students about understanding vocabulary in nonfiction text. 4y
tclivio https://www.education.com/lesson-plan/understanding-academic-vocabulary-in-a-non... This book would be a great read aloud, stopping at each vocabulary word! This is such a fun NF book, and one that I would definitely recommend for your classroom! 4y
DrSpalding I know this author well!😁❤️📚 4y

I‘ve always had a hard time becoming passionate about NF books, so when Professor shared that she writes NF picture books for children, I knew I had to look them up! This one, Monster Truck Racing is my favorite because it provides everything you need to know about monster truck in an interesting way that is simple enough for teachers. It makes me want to actually go to Monster Jam next! I think this would best utilized as a RA. unfortunately due

Ryanne.H To the nature of the topic, I can imagine boys would be more eager to read it, but I would push for the girls in my class to read it as well. This 5-day unit plan for NF would be great to use for students who are learning about the genres of literature! https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/unit-plans/teaching-content/5-day-unit-plan-... UDL 2.1, 2.4, and 3.2 & ESOL 5, 20, and 29. #UCFLAE3414SP18 7y
LisaMart @Ryanne.H 🤩 Where did you find this?? I want to read some of her non-fiction books!! Boys would definitely love this book, especially those that might not find reading interesting or “cool.” 7y
Ryanne.H She showed it in class I think 2 weeks ago! She has a whole bunch of them. Pretty cool 😊 7y

GraceNeg I love Monster Jam ! You should definitely go. Every January they come to Orlando. I will actually post about this. 😍😍 7y
KaitlynN I want ALL of her books in my classroom! I love that she made them because we can be sure they have all the NF text features that kids need to see and use to become comfortable with NF text. Plus they are so engaging! I loved books about dinosaurs and fish when I was little. Kids used to be pretty mean about me liking “boy books” so I stopped reading them. I think it would be really cool to point out that a Woman is the author! 7y
DrSpalding What a fabulous resource you have selected to go along with my books. Thanks for the kind comments. High interest books that boys and girls alike can enjoy. 7y
