Even though a big part of this miniseries involves Kara discovering and processing her alien heritage, writer Tamaki and artist Jones have crafted a deeply human story. They approach even the most outlandish bits from a relatable teenage discovery angle, and they put an especial emphasis on Kara's super sweet relationship with her BFFs. It brought me lots and lots of joy, despite its fair measure of heartbreak.

Gorgeous art and unusually sensitive writing combine in this lovely YA Supergirl origin story. It falls apart a lot in its final chapter - it needed probably one more chapter to spread things out and feel more natural - but this is a book people will fall in love with regardless.

I've not spent much comic time with any of the Supers, but I just might start as this was excellent!

My first Supergirl and I loved it! Tamaki does a great job portraying the secrecy behind her upbringing and how Lex Luthor helped her remember who she is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
