Neddiad: How Neddie Took the Train, Went to Hollywood, and Saved Civilization
Neddiad: How Neddie Took the Train, Went to Hollywood, and Saved Civilization | Daniel Manus Pinkwater
3 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
Bestselling author Daniel Pinkwater's story of how Neddie, a shaman, a ghost, three pals, and a maneuver known as the French substitution determine the fate of the world. Melvin the Shaman. Sandor Eucalyptus. Billy the Phantom Bellboy. Daniel Pinkwater's weird and wonderful tale of Neddie Wentworthstein's quest to save civilization features some of the most unique heroes and villains a reader could hope to meet. Despite the heavy responsibility that Neddie must carry (not every kid is charged with rescuing humankind from doom), his story is hilarious, warm, welcoming, and sweet.

I thought my neighborhood had reached a critical mass of Little Free Libraries, but a new one full of children‘s books just popped up around the corner from me. (I think that brings the total I‘ve found on neighborhood walks up to 8...) I snagged this one because I almost put it on hold from the library last night. I have a couple to drop off tomorrow now... #kidlit #lfl #littlefreelibrary

Some books are so fun & quirky & fantastic, it‘s impossible not to enjoy them. Neddie Wentworthstein‘s (yep, that‘s his name) story starts on a street just a mile from mine in Chicago & then moves to the west coast when Neddie & his family take the Super Chief to LA encountering lots of adventures on the way. My family & I have taken the same train & I wish I had had this book along for the ride. It‘s a great read aloud for the entire family.

Saw the fantastic cover, saw Neil Gaiman‘s blurb on the front and that was enough for me.
