Good YA read that has a male protagonist who's not your typical HS guy. There's a family curse, some magic going on, and an unexpected romance. Best of all, this is that rare book with a character who's LGBTQ and it's just a part of who he is, instead of the whole story. Slight points off for a hokey big of magic, but overall about an A-.
Sometimes you pick up a book & it‘s as if the author has anticipated your mood or just gets what types of books you like to read. I knew within two pages I was going to enjoy this book & it did not disappoint. Aiden Lockwood is passing through life in a fog until an old friend, one Aiden doesn‘t remember, jolts him out of it. A tale of a family curse, a mom keeping secrets & hiding memories & a best friend who is something more. Great read.
It‘s a day of errands but I never leave home without a book. So, taking along this one today. Always try to sneak in a little reading time.
Barzak's paranormal ya novel was both beautiful and weird in equal measure. I don't want to elaborate too much because it will be so much better if you go in blind. Trust me. It's great. #recommendsday #LGBTQ
