A chance visit to the bargain bookshop led me to this copy of The High Lord by Trudi Canavan, thus completing my collection of the US editions of the Black Magician trilogy. 🥳

I was never into having the same editions of a series, but for my favorite fantasy series, it feels special. 😊

I think this was the weakest of the trilogy. The love story aspect was a bit weak and seemed too easy. It took the focus away from the black magic aspect and the main storyline. I would still read it again to see if i liked it more the second time around.

This was amazing. The whole book was wrapped up beautifully. Somethings I wished didn‘t happen but then it wouldn‘t make it as beautiful.

Wow, this book. The second volume in the series had left me a bit blah, but this last installment certainly made up for it! Enjoyed it so much. So much "live" action, so many surprises, and that world building... definitely recommend the whole trilogy!
Thank you @TheLondonBookworm for encouraging me to keep reading!!! This now has a place on my Keepers shelf ??

TheLondonBookworm Awww yay! I'm so glad you loved it and kept going! It totally worth the pay out ☺️😍😍😍 8y
Elisa @TheLondonBookworm what's next? Is there more than one spin-off? 8y

I had to make the image unfocused so as to avoid spoilers! This book is so exciting 💥💥And the writing here is faster-paced but somehow the author depicts the scenes perfectly — every page, it's like the scenes are playing in my head. And suddenly it occurs to me: there is no way we will ever be truly pleased with a movie/TV adaptation of our favorite books. Nothing can come close to our own imagination.

The last book in the trilogy! Can't wait to dive in. This cover is kind of quietly creepy, isn't it? 😶

Elisa @TheLondonBookworm you finished the trilogy and also read Dannyl's spin-off, right? I am dying to discuss this trilogy with someone 😁 8y
TheLondonBookworm Yessss I did 😍😍 what did you think??? 8y
Elisa @TheLondonBookworm well I have only just started book 3 but I have so many thoughts! I don't think Akkarin is evil, for some reason — I'm expecting a twist where we'll find out that he had to work secretly but he was defending the Guild and Kyralia. I'm hoping Sonea and Rothen's son will end up together — but I hope she doesn't move to the boonies 😉 I feel bad for Rothen because he is having such a hard time with this whole thing. 8y
