Backstagers Vol. 2
Backstagers Vol. 2 | James Tynion
5 posts | 13 read | 4 to read
All the world's a stage . . . but what happens behind the curtain is pure magic--literally! Jory and the rest of the Backstagers have one goal this semester: to put on the best show their town's ever seen. But best laid plans aren't easy to achieve when there's an entire magical world that lives beyond the curtain! When one of the actors suddenly goes missing, the Backstagers must band together to save their comrade and maintain the natural balance of . . . theater. James Tynion IV (Detective Comics, The Woods) and artist Rian Sygh (Munchkin, Stolen Forest) explore what it means to be an outcast looking to find one's place in an earnest story of friendship and self-expression.

For some reason there‘s only Vol 2 in the database, not Vol 1. This is Vol 1. I LOVED this. But I‘m biased, having been a theatre gremlin all my life. This is a fun, fluffy story about a backstage crew at a high school that has some fantastical rooms (and creatures) backstage that they must keep in check. Beckett is my spirit animal and the art style is vivid. If you liked Nimona or Lumberjanes you‘d probably enjoy this too.

I'm really into these. This time the Backstagers must stop a ghost (?) from destroying the world. They also meet up with their female counterparts from another school.

Help! Someone stole my comic!

BookNAround Such a cute little thief though. 😂 6y
BookNAround I remember when our oldest was just a little guy and learning to read. He snagged one of my husband‘s comics and I heard him trying to sound out the words. Ffffff...uhhhh...kkkkk. I zipped into the family room and took the comic telling him it was a grown up book! Obviously my husband reads comics that are too raw for little folk. LOL! 6y
fleeting @BookNAround that story! 😄😂 6y
RealLifeReading @BookNAround 😂😂😂 I don‘t think I read comics with too many curse words. Or at least the kids haven‘t tried to sound them out 6y
