How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t
How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t: 14 Habits that Are Holding You Back from Happiness | Andrea Owen
9 posts | 12 read | 16 to read
No-punches-pulled advice to women who want to stop undermining their own happiness once and for all How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is a straight-shooting approach to self-improvement for women, one that offers no-crap truth-telling about the most common self-destructive behaviors women tend to engage in. From listening to the imposter complex and bitchy inner critic to catastrophizing and people-pleasing, Andrea Owen--a nationally sought-after life coach--crystallizes what's behind these invisible, undermining habits. With each chapter, she kicks women's gears out of autopilot and empowers them to create happier, more fulfilling lives. Powerfully on-the-mark, the chapters are short and digestible, nicely bypassing weighty examinations in favor of punch-points of awareness.

I just finished this book. For my reading goals this year I put read a self help book. This is the first one I ever read and it was really helpful. I enjoyed the chapter about managing your inner critic and catastrophising. It was really geared towards women and identifying as nonbinary made me feel a slightly disconnected, but otherwise I think a lot of the advice is still good and I like that it advocates for being more sympathetic to yourself.

Another audible listen. Some of her ideas I didn‘t necessarily agree with, but the majority I enjoyed listening to! Some of the habits, I don‘t even realize were habits! Very insightful. 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I‘ll give this one a pick. It is down-to-earth modern-day self-help at its most average. There are some good reminders about the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviors... some wisdom reminding the reader to check one‘s perceptions. It was a New Year‘s impulse buy for me and I found it moderately engaging. It‘s something I‘d likely consider sharing with female clients looking for an easy, practical read.

-Allowing yourself to be imperfect, redefining strong for yourself, awareness of your self critic, loosening your grip on perfectionism, acknowledging all of your circumstances- the tough and the terrific-

My only complaint is that this book is geared specifically to women. I wish it was neutral so that I could recommend it to everyone, I think it has a lot of power in bringing bad habits/behavior and positive advice to light for everyone.

RaimeyGallant Nice review. :) And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site.
