In 2016, the DC Universe Rebirth one shot teased the incorporation of Alan Moore‘s Watchmen characters into the mainline DCU, specifically that Dr. Manhattan had been screwing with the DCU‘s timeline with his god-like abilities.

2017‘s 4-issue The Button was the next big tease, and just about all it does is tease, but it told a pretty good Batman/Flash story with some fantastic Howard Porter art for what it‘s worth.

This book will either amaze or infuriate. See the button in question is a certain blood stained smiley face most recognised from Alan Moore classic book watchman. Hints are dropped (you can guess what the numerous blue lighting effects imply). This also ties into the flashpoint storyline from a few years back which was nice. I really liked it. I love watchman, but I‘m ok with sitting back and seeing how this story progresses if they write it well!
