This was my 5th #spanishbook so far. My first time reading Neruda, but not the last! My only complaint is that the english and spanish versions weren't side by side, but all of the English translations were in the front with the poems in their original Spanish in the back. I had to flip back and forth a lot but still worth the read because I learned a lot of new spanish words. Lots of Neruda's handwritten notes are included.

Neruda's words remind me just how visceral the effect of poetry can be to me, leaving me out of breath. He is the wind to my leaf.

My date during my last night in Shanghai. Bibliophiles never go to bed alone. Neruda shall keep me company.

magictoyshop Oooh I got this from Kickstarter too! Absolutely love it!!!! 8y
GatheringBooks @magictoyshop ordered this via book depository- not familiar with kickstarter, you'd have to educate me on that one. :) 8y
magictoyshop @GatheringBooks oh! what I meant was (I think) this particular edition and translation started as a crowd funding project on Kickstarter.com. I was excited because I was one of the contributors. 🤓so glad to see its now being sold on book depository! 😃 8y

The quote, the handwritten pages. The first poem takes my breath away. I have loved his poetry for as long as I've been learning Spanish, which seems like most of my life. I love to add in small poems wherever I can in my classes, especially his Odes to Ordinary Things, but I get the impression no one quite likes him as much as I do. My Spouse tells me this is the fifth book of Neruda we've bought but I surely don't have enough Neruda yet???!!!

Yossarian You should notify the authorities that you found the lost poems! Someone is probably looking for them. 8y

I've just received this and have started the slow beautiful journey through the poems. There is nothing quite like a book of poetry from an author of Neruda's talent.
