Oh man. I'm loving this one so far. It feels like a fantasy world that I haven't read about yet, but has the same danger and suspense as the world of Middle Earth or the world setting for The Wheel of Time series. I looked up and was halfway done with the book.
“Your friend is in the training yard,” he said placidly. “She‘s beating up my friend. It‘s pretty funny.”
pickI have never fully read this series, but I know it is packed with action and cleverness. I can imagine my older brother when he was restless and young settling down to read a story like this one.
pickRecommended to me by my nephew, this is a fun Dungeons-&-Dragons-y romp with magic and monsters and super-special kid heroes. It has that YA age dynamic where the kids are usually right and the adults tend either to stand in the kids' way or just stand around clueless, but that's YA adventure for you. It didn't bother me when I was in the target audience, so let's just assume I'm an old fart and call it a pick for what it is.
