It's about 12 months since i last picked up a lincoln rhyme book and whilst i enjoyed this the 11th in the series the formula doesn't change. Here the team including Lincoln and amelia sachs investigate a crime with echoes of book 1 'the bone collector' so whilst a page turner every twist and turn follows the same routine so i always anticipate the next shock to fall. Still a break from a few heavy reads, ill maybe leave it longer now for bk 12.

Cathythoughts A break from the heavy ones is always welcome 5y

This is a terrific thriller and Deaver is a master at plotting. Ten years after The Bone Collector terrorized New York, an heir apparent emerges. He is taking people captive and tattooing them with poison. Criminologist Lincoln Rhyme and his staff are determined to Bri g him to justice even as they find themselves the targets of his machinations. Deaver has an incredibly devious mind and the reader is the beneficiary of his offbeat thought process

A really good book...not Deaver‘s best but still intriguing and a good read. Overall, I think he was trying to do too much in the book and cover too many plots and subplots; maybe pushing to hard for the next book. However I give it a good 4 stars. Worth the time to read.

Does everybody remember The Bone Collector movie with Denzel Washington? Well this is book 11 of 13 in that series. The villain doesn't collect skin in the literal sense though; he tattoos with poisonous ink. Great pace and a plot twist close to the end that echoes an under-addressed threat in the U.S. One complaint: a red herring that I felt was unfair to readers. The author's clues all led to this one red herring, and I felt let down. #thriller

julesG Book 11 of 13?! I have to catch up. I read the first two or three. 7y
RaimeyGallant @julesG Wow! I skipped ahead to this one. I'm a cheater. *hangs head in shame* 7y
julesG @RaimeyGallant Nah, not a cheater. I just can't read a series randomly. I need my order, I'm German. 😀 7y

This features an interesting case and a unique means of killing people. There is more to the villain than meets the eye. The case is more complicated than it initially seems, and there is a twist towards the end that truly surprised me.

Robothugs I'm just going to confiscate you're lovely decorations... Nothing to see here... 8y
