Pickpick

I read this in November, as may be apparent from the fall-themed pic I took at the time. 😜

I loved this second Harper Hall book. It continues Menolly‘s story as she arrives at the Harper Hall and begins training as an apprentice. It has a similar emotional depth as the first book, as Menolly faces prejudice & difficulty fitting in, and struggles to recognize her own value even as she is encouraged and drawn out by new-found mentors & friends. ⤵️

BarbaraJean I‘m still sad I never read these as a kid! Hoping to read more of the main Pern books this year—reading the Harper Hall books was my first intro to McCaffrey‘s writing. 3y
TheAromaofBooks I read this wholllllle series a couple of years ago and really enjoyed them. I definitely recommend published order, although I do see myself rereading them in chronological order at some point as well. I also found this great website that has a timeline of the books and how they overlap, because it gets confusing!! - http://pern.srellim.org/chrono.htm 3y

Help needed! I read this a million years in junior high and just recommended it for my almost 13 year old nephew. I need more suggestions for him. He liked HP, the Dragon series (no idea what this is), Ranger‘s Apprentice, Fablehaven, and the Rick Riordan books. What else should I suggest for him?

merelybookish Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. My daughter had similar taste and liked it as well as the ones you listed. 5y
ravenlee Sisters Grimm series, Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander, Myth-O-Mania by Kate McMullan, Susan Cooper‘s series The Dark Is Rising, Madeleine L‘Engle‘s books, Ursula Le Guin‘s Earthsea series... 5y
TheAromaofBooks He might enjoy the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede or the Bayern books by Shannon Hale. 5y
