Walking with Peety: The Dog Who Saved My Life
Walking with Peety: The Dog Who Saved My Life | Eric O'Grey
5 posts | 4 read | 5 to read
Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts, and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life-eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart. WALKING WITH PEETY is for anyone who is ready to make a change in his or her life, and for everyone who knows the joy, love, and hope that dogs can bring. This is more than a tale of mutual rescue. This is an epic story of friendship and strength.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I‘m a sucker for stories about pets and how much unconditional love they give. Eric finds God, becomes vegan, starts dating again, eventually marries, and runs marathons all because Peety came into his life.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for review, and today that review is up at Chic Vegan!

The author‘s story of his life with Peety makes me want to hug my dog, #Millie, pictured. Stories of human/non-human animal relationships are worth the read!

Eric O'Grey was over 150 pounds overweight and had pretty much hit rock bottom with his health and personal life when his doctor told him to adopt a shelter dog. Perry was the perfect dog for him -- middle aged and overweight, they had a lot in common. Peety was a catalyst for a lot of change in Eric's diet and lifestyle. O'Grey is a staunch advocate for those lifestyle changes, but the passion comes from the difference it made in his life.

Hoping to start this one this weekend! I‘ll be reviewing it for the #vegan site I write for! The book was published last week.

VeganCleopatra What vegan site do you work for? Is it bookish? 7y
dariazeoli @VeganCleopatra I‘m a contributor for Chic Vegan. I write book reviews sometimes, and I‘m the least chic person! 7y
VeganCleopatra ? I'll have to check the site out but take the whole "chic" aspect with a grain of salt eh? Haha jk ? 7y
