Memories, Dreams, Reflections | C.G. Jung
7 posts | 17 read | 12 to read
In the spring of 1957, when he was eighty-one years old, C. G. Jung undertook the telling of his life story. At regular intervals he had conversations with his colleague and friend Aniela Jaff, and collaborated with her in the preparation of the text based on these talks. On occasion, he was moved to write entire chapters of the book in his own hand, and he continued to work on the final stages of the manuscript until shortly before his death on June 6, 1961. This edition of Memories, Dreams, Reflections includes Jung's VII Sermones ad Mortuos. It is a fully corrected edition. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I checked this book out from the library so many years ago and couldn‘t hang...I just couldn‘t find a place to access the material, even though I had a lot of respect for the Jungian approach.
It was recommended to me again recently and so I tried the audio and that went way better but sometimes I felt full and couldn‘t absorb it all. Will likely listen again.
Here are some of my paraphrased notes.

Graywacke That‘s a great story, especially since Jung is intimidating. (Too intimidating for me) I‘m trying to process the logic in the quote... 5y
jmofo @Graywacke ! It‘s nice to see you! (Sorry I disappeared I‘ve been through some stuff, but I‘m better) These are a smattering of phrases to remind me why I wanted to come back to later...so some of the difficulty with the is likely due to me. 5y
Graywacke @jmofo thought maybe I missed your posts for a while. Glad you‘re doing better. 5y

Life can be tough. I feel almost as though I am being flippant but it is the best I‘ve got with so few characters. Life can be gorgeous, too, and as I am finishing this book I feel like I‘m reading and not reading well enough, I am grateful for the depth of my feeling and the difficulties. I am a mess and I hope to do my best when I am able. Just like life, this book‘s got it all.

Hard to not think of Jung and therapy while listening to Dr.Blasey Ford, you see both the traumatized person and the depth of her education in psychology.I applaud her bravery.Plus, @Ddzmini wants to see this shelf.

Bookwomble Nice shelf 💗 6y

I have done a couple of these and this is always my result. I definitely feel like a mediator most of the time.

l'll see @batsy a Freud and raise her a Jung! .#wildestdreams #AugustGrrrl

batsy Nice! I've never read Jung and this seems like an interesting place to start. There's a recent bio I think of his wife that also sounds good, about her role in his work. 7y
Cinfhen I'm not touching this one! I'm sticking with Interpreting Dreams For Dummies 7y
Leftcoastzen @batsy is it this one?It was on my radar then fell off😂!Thx for reminding me! @cinfhen 😂. 7y
batsy @Cinfhen 😂 Yes that's the one, @Leftcoastzen! 7y
