Not a good pastiche. Holmes didn't feel quite right. I'm glad I only borrowed it.

Disappointing. I was expecting a team-up with Holmes and Houdini solving a mystery, but they actually spent very little time together. Houdini spent 2/3 of the book sitting in jail, accused of the crime at the center of the story. Also, again with a story of the Prince of Wales and a scandal involving a lover's letters?? It wasn't very original. 3 💥💥💥

In this interesting tale, Holmes is asked to prove Harry Houdini innocent of an array of changes, including murder. The stakes are high as the letters Houdini is accused of stealing could derail Britain‘s relations with German. Remaining true to the Canon, Daniel Stashower has crafted a tale that takes full advantage of the time period. The relationship between Holmes and Houdini, initially antagonistic, is also handled quite nicely.
Interesting tale finds Holmes trying to clear Houdini of a murder charge. So far, so good!
