Pickpick

Simple, yet powerful end to this book. Simply written, perfect for it's target audience of elementary school children. It might even be a little too graphic/ matter of fact about the horrific experiences of the author. I think it will depend on the students.

Reading this now to see if it will work as an alternative read for 7th grade diverse learners who are not ready for The Diary of Anne Frank. It's always a struggle to find books for lower readers that deal with with difficult and complicated concepts. So far this book is great. Starts with clear, informative background info and it's a 4th grade reading level so students can access it mostly independently. #readingtoteach
