It turned really obvious about 40% of the way through, and then it's just a question of how things play out. Still interesting, but it loses what subtlety it had in first part.

Sneaky extra pic of my triceratops footstool, with my current read for relevancy. I'm about halfway through; intrigued to see how everything works out, though I think I have it figured out.
Just finished this, very different from EF Benson's Mapp and Lucia books but a tour de force of another kind. Written in an ornate gothic style, to match the medieval chalice at the heart of the story, this is Benson channelling The Turn of the Screw. As Benson lived in James' old house this is not surprising. Best read at a very fast clip, the book is full of atmosphere - Tilling gone to the bad. I loved it #cosycrime #whodunit #mystery #crime
Really looking forward to this one - love EF Benson's Mapp and Lucia books but had no idea he also wrote #whodunnits. It involves Holbein portraits, ancient goblets, a family curse and a corpse or two... irresistible!
