Gone with the Wind | Helen Taylor
4 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
"Gone with the Wind" (1939) is one of the greatest films of all time - the best-known of Hollywood's Golden Age and a work that has, in popular imagination, defined southern American history for three-quarters of a century. Drawing on three decades of pertinent research, Helen Taylor charts the film's production history, reception and legacy.

Just no! Horrible people! Love story? No! These two were abusive as hell to each other. Scarlett had very little redeeming qualities. The racism is beyond uncomfortable while reading. At least it showed the south for how they were, lazy, racists and phoney. This is not even good literature

Pickpick

Scarlett O'Hara of GWTW, simply stole my heart. She made me to love her, hate her, envy her, again love her and at the end of it pity the mighty Scarlett. And oh Melanie, the sweetest, this book showed the contrast between her and Scarlett yet reminding us of their similarities subtly. 'I'll think about it tomorrow' has become my mantra thanks to Scarlett. Also, Rhett Butler with all his cleverness made me to go seconds for this absolute classic!

About 6 coworkers asked me if I was really reading this. Then proceed to let me know there is a movie about it that would be so much easier than reading the book. Mind your own book business you book hating muggles!

AThousandLives87 Nosy people. Too bad they don't know a good book when they see it! 7y
mjdowens Or just plain read a book! 7y

Prairiegirl_reading 🙄muggles. And honestly as if you had never heard of one of the most famous movies in history. People who read tend to know stuff. 7y
mjdowens Right? It is getting harder to bite my tongue and just smile and say I like to read more than watching tv or movies. When what I want to say is get the f&@$ out of my face! But hey, then I would be the "rude" one? 7y
