When Jack traded their cow for some ‘magic beans‘, his mother got so angry and threw the beans outside their house. And it was Jack‘s mother who brought him an axe to cut down the beanstalk before the giant reaches the ground.

Jack and the Beanstalk, retold by Ronne Randall, is an adventurous TL story for a RA with your students! When Jack was sent to town to sell their family's last cow to get money for food, he meets an old man who convinces Jack to trade him the cow for magic beans instead. His mother was not pleased, sent Jack straight to bed, and threw the beans out the window! The next morning, jack couldn't believe his eyes....

JanaLL a beanstalk grew higher than the clouds. Jack could not resist climbing it to see where it led to. It was a place he could never have imagined! EL13 - Use preview/review activities. UDL 6.2 - Support planning and strategy development 7y
JanaLL In this extension activity, students will read "Jack and the Beanstalk" as a group and create flip books to illustrate and sequence the main events. http://www.learnnc.org/lp/pages/3574 7y
DrSpalding This looks like a wonderful version of this traditional tale. Flip books for sequencing works well. 7y

For todays, #junebookbugs #vegetables prompt, I had to go to the fairytales, as I could not think of a single novel about veggies or one that has veggies on the cover etc. And I have to admit that I did not even think about this...it popped up while googling and well...Out of everything I at least know about and have read both!
