My dad was from south Wales and as a yng child we took long journeys from Manchester to Llanelli and always had day trips to Swansea. As i got older i discovered Dylan Thomas, his poetry and prose but this is one of my top 5 bks which made me appreciate lyrical writing and it evokes childhood memories of the eating cockles on the mumbles sea front. A well thumbed book.

Im not sure if this fits but i guess as a description it may work as a bad self portrait. This is always in my top books of all time because my dad was from south Wales and the wonderful stories evoke memories of trips to swansea, and the better image on the biog is by Augustus john and i often liked to view it when i was at uni in Cardiff.

I know he is strictly speaking a poet but the tagged book is always in my 5 favourite books of all time. One image is an Augustus john painting of Dylan Thomas which is in Cardiff art gallery and I loved seeing it when i was at uni there. Eventually booze and cigarettes affected his younger good looks.
