“George went: 'Meow'“
I would use Bark, George in my classroom when I am trying to make the kids laugh. This book has a goofy twist that I believe all kids will love to see.

Bark, George is a picture book that follows a dog that just can not bark. George tries his hardest but makes every noise except a bark. His mom gets mad at him because he cannot. This interesting story leads to the reason why he is making all the wrong noises, and matching pictures that are equally as funny.
this is a laugh a minute read, george cannot stop making al the wrong noises from “meow” to “pink” to “moo”. children will be delighted at george‘s outrageous diagnosis and parents will adore the illustrations.
“On the way home, she wanted to show George off to everyone on the street. So she said, “bark George”
This is an adorable picture book about a dog that couldn‘t bark. The ending of the story is the cutest part.
Bark George by Jules Feiffer is a picture book that was published in 1999. George is a dog that was very confused about how to bark. He decided he would try to meow, and quack. George‘s mom was getting very angry with George because he wouldn‘t bark. His mother took him to the vet to check out George‘s mouth and he pulled out a cat and a duck and a pig and a cow. George then was able to bark until he then swallowed a human.
Prepping for my first storytime in 18 months
George's mom becomes increasingly frustrated as george instead of barking makes different animal sounds. She takes him to the vet who pulls the increasingly large animals out of george until he barks. I love the expressions on the mama dog's face. Both my kids thought this one was really funny.
