Pickpick

This is a very interesting book. Flaubert traveled through Egypt with a friend in 1850. He wrote a travelogue during the trip and later expanded his thoughts in a more polished form. The editor of this volume deserves most of the credit for compiling this unique document. He included Flaubert‘s travel notes, letters to Flaubert‘s mother and friends, reminisces by Flaubert‘s travel buddy, and his own thoughts. The result is a very modern book.
