If I were to do a detailed review of Creation, I would have to include quite a number of critical exemptions, caveats and clarifications. With that in mind, I‘ll keep my views brief. I did really enjoy the novel and was hugely impressed with its scope. Vidal was an enormously learned and eminent academic and that is apparent throughout. it was a great read with much to admire and reflect on.

My #LetterC book for the #Alphabetgame.

In the 5th century BC, Cyrus Spatama is the greatest name-dropper in history and OMG does he have names to drop. He meets Zoroaster, the Buddha, Lao Tzu, Confucius, Darius, Xerxes, Herodotus, Pericles, Socrates, and Democritus, among others, in a story of conspiracy, politics, and adventure.

Always on my TBR list, but somehow I never get around to reading it.

I keep returning to this book because (1) the Persians were so awesome, and (2) because Vidal didn't set off a boom in historical autobiographical apocrypha that so richly deserved to have happened, and which would have been such a boon to many readers.
