I love this world building. And to be honest I adore the artwork. Truly one of the things that drew me to this series. Fantasy fiction, steampunk elements…and quick and entertaining.

Twainy I want to read this …. 2y
KristiAhlers @Twainy it really is so very good. 2y

I‘m obsessed with this comic series about a mysterious anti-hero who finds herself in the middle of a devastating war between humans and otherworldly forces. Sometimes the actual plot leaves me a little confused, but the art in this series is absolutely incredible. I kinda want to frame it in my house. Can‘t wait for the next edition!

Started my long weekend with Monstress and coffee. Volume 2 is just as amazing and horrifying as Volume 1. I'm still not sure how I feel about Maika Halfwolf. She is definitely an anti-hero. Her journey takes her to an island that is the decaying body of a god. Ren is delightful comic relief in the dark moments. I cannot get enough of the gorgeous artwork and insane creatures. I can't wait for Volume 3.

Oh did I mention there's also a wise talking cat? Because there's a wise talking cat.

Those interested in reading about a fantasy world with a war torn history and a lot of interesting female characters are really in for a treat with the beautiful art and intriguing story. I can't praise this enough.

FYI: I can't remember if I did this with the first issue, but those who have an issue with gore and/or horror elements may want to steer clear.

Dorianna @OSChamberlain It's not excessive or gratuitous and I'm into horror elements in my stories so I'm fine with it. I hope you enjoy it. It really is so good. 8y

I like to keep some single issues on reserve for when I don't have time for a longer book. This evening's read is Monstress, a comic so good I can't even believe someone came up with it. It's amazing.

This series is absolutely wonderful. Not only are the graphics stellar, but it's thought-provoking and highly relevant to our times. The themes of race, discrimination, separation, and fear come through strongly in this issue. And I'm quite in love with Ren the cat (or is he really something else?) with two tails. Thanks to NetGalley and Diamond Book Distributors for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This time we meet the Inquisatrix. They are led by Mother Superior. A lady in black and scarier than any nun I know. Everyone is in search of a mask, or a shard of a mask. It‘s poisonous and no Arcanic can touch it without burning. Escape is the game for this section, but then again so is capture.
