I liked that this was a quick read and it was engaging in a 'what's-round-the-next-corner?' way. But the characters felt a bit one dimensional and the narration was grating. What could have been a cool plot ended up falling short.
I'm usually a big fan, but this one missed the target.

pickKeigo is one of my favorite mystery writers. His stories are always surprising and this one has some twists and an ending I didn‘t see coming. I love that when I read a mystery!
pickIn spite of some occasional odd phrasing due to the Japenese to English translation, this crime novel keeps you guessing until the end. Well crafted and intricately detailed, the plot seems bizarre yet still intriguing. If you enjoyed Under the Midnight Sun, you'll love this one. Definitely recommend. 👍

I've been less active on Litsy recently because we're relocating (locally). Buying, selling, renovating...whew! But finally we're in the process of moving throughout the coming week. In order to establish a bit of calm in all the chaos, the first thing I did was set up my new reading corner in the bedroom...of course! No moving boxes allowed in this space! 📚📚📚
