The King in Yellow and Other Horror Stories
The King in Yellow and Other Horror Stories | Robert W. Chambers
2 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
A milestone of American supernatural fiction, The King in Yellow created a sensation upon its 1895 publication. Since then, it has markedly influenced writers in the genre, most famously, H. P. Lovecraft. Author Robert W. Chambers has been hailed as a writer of remarkable imaginative powers and the historic link between Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King. This edition features 12 of his gripping stories and was edited by a noted authority on supernatural fiction, E. F. Bleiler, who provides an informative introduction.

I'm still in the midst of #springcleaningreadathon but I won't have any more to add to this month. And since I focused this month on finishing the Odd Thomas series, most of my other challenges saw little action. But this one is coming along splendidly❤️

I do not understand this book.

There was no story called The King in Yellow - there seemed to be a poem/passage from it, but really just a few lines.

Several of the stories referred to the story of The King in Yellow - which just frustrates the reader.

And the last 4 or so stories really had no horror elements.

I feel like I read the wrong book😕😮

LiteraryinPA That sounds super annoying! 8y
