Young Smith was a pickpocket - a very accomplished one. But one day his pick-pocketing was to lead him into a sinister and dangerous web of murder, intrigue and betrayal.

Pickpick

I would have ADORED this book when I was 11 years old. Set in 18th century London, this book is peopled with pickpockets, a blind judge, a dashing highwayman, and some diabolical villains.

What a cracking story.

I originally picked this book up to complete my 5 books for Q9 purchase at a local charity shop. What luck. Such a fun, compelling little mystery story.

I can see why this author was called the children's Dickens.
