All the raves for these wonderful children's books we checked out at the library!

These were our bedtime reads last night! Very different from each other but both are about standing up for yourself and others, no matter species, race, or gender. Lucia was my favorite, of course, but I would recommend both of them. And my son has found new inspiration: "I'm a high-kickin' luchador! Beware, foul monster!" ? #raisingareader

When the boys at the playground won't let Lucia play superheroes with them because she is a girl, she dons a mask and becomes a mysterious and revered luchadora but when those same boys make fun of a pink luchadora, Lucia must do what feels right in her heart and reveal her true identity. #weneeddiversebooks

My son loves Nino, so I grabbed this one from the library, and I was thrilled! Empowering, diverse, and beautiful, this is an all-around amazing picture book. I'm so glad to see the lucha libre culture represented, and to see not just a strong little girl, but her amazing grandmother as well. The art is fantastic, the fonts are perfect, and the story is needed.

I've exceeded my book allowance for the month (like a week ago ?) otherwise I would buy this right now. Some boys tell Lucia "girls can't be superheroes" but she finds out a family secret! I love the cover and the empowering message for girls.
