pickThe USS Squalus sub sinks off the U.S. coast & normally the crew would be presumed lost, even though thirty-some survived the initial mishap; enter Swede Momson. What a trailblazing, heroic figure. He has to put to the test all his techniques, devices, & plans for saving submariners. It's a hell of a story. My Mom loved this book & the bravery of all men in the submarine service. This story was one of her favorites , & so, is one of mine.
