It was as if the sea, breaking down the wall protecting all the homes of the town, had sent a wave over her head . . .
Set in a desolate English port, Conrads spare, savage turn-of-the-century story of lives haunted by the sea. One of Conrads most powerful, gripping stories.

The story of an old sea captain waiting for his son to return from his long travels. When asked he only says he will come back "tomorrow." Great use of irony. Much easier to read than Heart of Darkness.
