This book is about a cat named Pete and his encounter with a new individual that moves into his neighborhood. After he discovers who the individual is, he helps his new friend try to discover a skill that he is good at. It is a journey which involves friendship, encouragement, and love.

DrSpalding Yes to reading aloud and even singing aloud Pete the cat books however they are not considered realistic fiction. Why not? Look at the front cover of your book… We have a blue cat riding a skateboard. Is that realistic? What genre do you think it is now? 6y

I was helping a student read this today, and at the end he threw his head back and said, “I wish Pete the Cat was MY best friend! He would be nice to me EVERY day....not like Savannah.” These kids slay me 😄
