Bailedbailed

I struggled to get into this series - probably more my fault than the book‘s as I just seemed to be getting constantly interrupted whenever I picked it up 😂 Back to the library it goes (and maybe I‘ll pick it up again and have better luck next time).

rwmg I enjoyed the book but I can see that frequent interruptions might make it less attractive. 2y

Pickpick

Four commissioners are investigating discrepancies and errors in the returns for the Domesday Book. When the miller who alleged fraud by the local abbey is found conveniently dead in the forest, allegedly killed by a wolf, the two lay commissioners investigate his death.

Promising start to a series with some good period details. Irrelevant cover.

Bk6 of my #JuneBookHaul is the 1st in an historical mystery series by the author of the Railway Detective series. Set at the time of the Domesday Book, 20 yrs after William the Conqueror became King, a tribunal is sent to the village of Bedwyn after a letter from the town miller who is subsequently brutally killed, which was written off as a wolf attack but the men suspect was really murder. These lovely editions are from Waterstones.
